Week 3 - Monday, 4:30pm, Ballroom
[ Mikami had everything laid out so nicely and organizedly when he started collecting alibis and he somehow should have known that it would not go at all as he planned.
Thursday he'd gone to sleep thinking he'd interrogate Top Dollar about his lack of alibi immediately after his check round on the next morning. Except on Friday he woke up to a chopped up corpse and a lengthy investigation. And then the next day trial and betrayal and... the weekend was a mess, suffice to say.
And then Monday is too, but by the afternoon, Mikami is ready to put that aside for a moment to do his overdue duty. He's hesitant about approaching a suspect on his own, but the ballroom is a public area and people are passing through all the time at this time of day. If Top Dollar shot him then he'd be caught for it immediately. ]
Can I have a moment?

Can I have a moment?

Granted, he's not expecting Mikami approaching him, given that they don't usually talk; he'll straighten up a bit where he was kind of idly half-draped over one of the couches, crossing his legs casually at the knee, though his gloved fingertips will be tapping out light patterns on the arm of the couch next to him.]
Don't see why not; I'm not gonna say no to company.

He doesn't waste any time with pleasantries either before he gets to his point. Playing nice with criminals isn't his style, even formalities often feel too much for him. ]
You're aware of the recent shooting incidents around the hotel, of course. I want to ask you where you have been at the according times.
no subject
Pretty sure Hazama answered for at least one of those times, didn't he?

[ Mikami takes care to make clear that he's got the alibis memorized quite well. He wants everyone to know he isn't messing around - whether or not he makes himself more of a target, justice never bows to injustice. ]
no subject
So am I supposed to assume you're tracking down everyone who was alone at any of those times, or am I special?
no subject
[ Narrowed eyes here. Look, Top Dollar, others know how to be reasonable. ]
Whether or not you were alone makes no matter to the fact that we can still gauge your position and compare to the video feed before and after the error.

Though you have guns and ability, your 'occupation', for a lack of better word, would require you to have long-term planning skill. Unless they have access to information we don't know, most of what the shooter is doing is spreading panic and making the environment more dangerous for all of us - them involved, if they are a kidnappee.
[ And if nothing else, he assumes you don't want to die. ]
You're a regular suspect. If you were more than that, I would have taken more measures.
no subject
[And in some ways, it is; it doesn't sound sarcastic or condescending, either, for what it's worth.]
I didn't have my guns until Wednesday morning; I got them from room service then, you can check the security tapes. I talked to the one guy, Darren, about them - he's the one in black, he likes talking to me about weapons.
They're Berettas. A pair of them, model 92FS, 9mm cartridges. I got five bullets each in them, none of 'em have been fired. If you want to check sometime, you be my guest.

Considering as of now we have nothing to compare to, it seems fairly useless, but I'm glad to hear you are willing to cooperate this far.
[ Mostly he doesn't really want Top Dollar with guns in front of him right now, even though rationally thinking it is very very unlikely something would happen.
But then something else sticks out. ]
Does this Darren have specific weapons he seems most interested in?
no subject
He liked one of my swords, wanted to know where I got it. He seemed to recognize it, too - it's a functioning replica of something from a movie that came out in the late 1980s. He didn't seem any more or less interested in the guns, though, if that's what you're getting at.
Probably worth noting that the one in white doesn't come up anymore; it's just been this Darren guy the past few times. Pretty sure I make the other one nervous.
no subject
... also Top Dollar, what do you needs swords for here. ]
Yes, it was about the guns. Chavez doesn't seem to know what's happening with the gunner, but I'm not entirely excluding the option of her staff turning on her.
no subject
[It's sort of dry, sure, but it's not altogether insincere.]
The guys in the gym seem a little...excited, if you get my drift. They like talking shop when it comes to killing people. Darren's not as loud about it, but he likes delivering my weapons. So I wouldn't put it past any of them, though hell if I know what their reasons would be - you'd think they'd find the experiment just as good as anything else, if they're helping with it.
Unfortunately for both of us, though, Prosecutor - I don't know any more about our gunner than anyone else here.
no subject
Whether or not you were alone makes no matter to me, I still need to know your general position as relative to the crime scene.
[ They got nicely derailed here, but Mikami is not about to let Top Dollar get away with providing less information than all other inhabitants, it seems. ]
no subject
[...That could have been a lot harsher than it was, but it's still blunt as hell.]
Second floor in the garden on the second day. Heard the gunshot but decided to wait for word from Sandra before doing anything about it. In my room doing a couple of personal readings with my cards on the third day, didn't hear a fucking thing.
I'm not here for forensics amateur hour, I don't see any need to jump on seeing what's going on with the bodies. Shot is shot, and it really doesn't matter to me either way.
no subject
In the end, isn't this obsession with being interesting just another display of an immoral entertainment-focused world?]Considering the more people are around the body the less evidence gets preserved, that's acceptable.
[ Though being a crime lord, Top Dollar is probably among the few of them who have actual experience with crime scenes, but he's still the last person Mikami would ever want to ask about investigation.
Well, time to note that alibi down though. ]
If an incident like this occurs again, I recommend providing your alibi immediately. It will save us both trouble.
no subject
...Actually, that is kinda the problem here? Dios mio.]No promises. Are we done here?
no subject
[ And that's a last suspicious stare before he actually turns around and leaves Top Dollar to do his top dollar-y business. ]
